If Wilfried Nancy didn’t know much about Celtic before he arrived, he certainly does now.

Celtic’s defeat to Hearts on Sunday has probably generated more noise than any other fixture this season, and that’s saying something because of how chaotic the campaign has been.

Nancy has been getting verbal stick for some very stupid reasons, including the colour of his footwear.

But then again, given the size of Celtic and its power across the footballing world. Should it be a surprise that there is so much noise? Because Tim Sherwood thinks nothing tops the main gig in Glasgow.

What’s the one thing you’d tell Wilfried Nancy he needs to change after Hearts defeat?

Big improvements are needed ahead of the game against AS Roma…

Tim Sherwood on Celtic being the ‘best job in Europe’

Sam Allardyce spouted a lot of nonsense about Nancy being a ‘school teacher’ on his No Tippy Tappy Podcast.

Well, the former England coach was sitting alongside Sherwood, who told Allardyce that the Celtic manager’s job is ‘the best in Europe.’

Whilst Sherwood understands that Scottish football doesn’t have the platform of other leagues, he still thinks Celtic are a ‘huge club’, and being successful in a job like that propels you into leagues like the English Premier League.

“It’s the best job in Europe for me,” said Sherwood. “The best managing (job) in Europe to put yourself back on the map, if you want to get back into the Premier League.

“With respect to that league, because it’s a huge club, Celtic and Rangers are. Hearts are poking their noses in at the moment.

“You win, or you fail. You have the tools to win. You have the best players. If you do your job right and get the best out of them. You don’t have to be sophisticated. You just have to man manage them, as he (Martin O’Neill) has shown.

“Keep them happy. Keep them fit. Keep on playing to their best of their ability. No square pegs in round holes. Just get the ball into areas. Play on the front foot. You have got the whole crowd behind you. It is the easiest job, in my opinion, in European football, and one of the best jobs, because of the fanbase around the world.”

Wilfried Nancy told what would happen if he finishes second with Celtic

Win. Win. Win. That’s all that matters at Celtic. It’s an assignment Nancy understands very much, even if the media want to take his post-match Hearts comments out of context.

The rewards will be higher than ever if Nancy lifts trophies at Scotland’s most successful club, but as Sherwood put it, finish second, and then he will simply ‘get another job in the MLS.’

“My advice to him (Nancy) would be, don’t complicate it,” added Sherwood. “The only thing you would do is end up losing games. You might get the performances, but you might not get the results.

“In the end, when you finish second to Hearts or second to Rangers, you will go and get another job in the MLS. Don’t confuse it. It’s a simple job there. When you do win, you can bounce from there.

“We have seen Brendan do it. Ange do it. What do you think Ange did? He knew he had the best players. He just said to them, ‘Go and play on the front foot.’ And that’s what they did. They have the best players. It doesn’t matter what formation. If you have the best players, it doesn’t matter how you play, really.”
