Tino Kadewere keen on Celtic move, but loan return to Le Havre preferable

The name Tino Kadewere seems to be growing in significance as far as Celtic are concerned this January transfer window. The Le Havre striker, who we first floated as a potential signing way back in October, has been linked with Celtic on a number of occasions so far this month. And things seem to be hotting up further.

As the Daily Mail reported earlier this week, we have been monitoring the Zimbabwe international “in recent months” alongside English Premier League sides Southampton and Bournemouth.

Not a great deal else is known about our reported interest although GetFootballNewsFrance.com – a pretty reliable source for all French based transfers – have added their knowledge to the story with a few intriguing details.

They say that 17-goal Kadewere and his family are keen on sorting out a move this month. However, they also say that the forward would like to sign a deal that sees him loaned back to the Ligue 2 promotion hopefuls until the end of the season.

It is also said that Celtic have made a “formal approach” for the 24-year-old alongside Brazilian side Flamengo but that HAC are also expecting bids from a number of English clubs in the coming days.

Kadewere looks like a perfect fit for Celtic

There is a reason why we tipped Kadewere to be a good signing for Celtic three months ago. The forward ticks all the boxes that we like in our strikers. He scores goals – 17 of them in 19 league matches so far this season – but he also has great scope for improvement at 24-years-old.

He’s a little older than both Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard were when they joined the club but it’s very fair to say that Kadewere is cut from the same kind of cloth.

It will be very interesting to see if our reported interest comes to anything in the coming days and weeks. We certainly need to add a striker this month, given the inconsistent performances from Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Bayo in the first-half of this season.

That’s what makes the report of his desired return to France on loan all the more intriguing. Would we sign off on that? Would it be a small price to pay in the long run? Time will tell what happens.
