With Celtic looking towards next Sunday’s Hampden showdown with Rangers, Todd Cantwell has opened up on the infamous tweet he posted after his side’s latest Glasgow Derby defeat to Celtic.
The 3-2 win at Celtic Park effectively tied up the league title for the Hoops but after the match, the Rangers midfielder posted on Twitter that Celtic didn’t win the match, Rangers lost it.
The tweet was roundly criticised but Cantwell has moved to reveal that his social media post was taken out of context.

As reported by The Herald, Cantwell said, “For context, it was more about our mistakes that it felt like we gave them the win.
“I think that was quite obvious.
“It is easy for people on Twitter to have their fun with what I really meant by it.
“Listen, the fans were obviously disappointed with the result, as we were, so for me as a player, I wanted to make sure that I look onside and not a ‘we didn’t win so I won’t say anything’ type of attitude.
“Win, lose or draw, I think you should always interact with the fans, for sure.
“The game itself, we felt that we were playing well and we did give some easy goals away so it was frustrating. That was the context that I meant by that. In general, I think we have had a good reaction since.”

Are we having that? I think it might have been best to say nothing at all on a weekend where another Glasgow Derby loss effectively ended any hope of Rangers keeping up a title challenge.
Celtic will be looking to end Rangers’ season this coming Sunday with a win at Hampden. I’m sure that is the mindset of the players heading into the biggest game of the season.
Ange Postecoglou will be looking for a huge improvement from yesterday’s performance if we are to book our place at Hampden on the 3rd of June and complete another historic treble.
