Celtic have been unfortunate with injuries in the run-up to the Europa League clash with Valencia. The likes of Filip Benkovic and Kieran Tierney are unlikely to feature in the game.
There is another player who is set to miss the tie who will be the biggest miss of them all – Tom Rogic. The Hoops midfielder has a knee injury, and will be out of action until March.
You may be wondering why Rogic is more of a miss than the likes of Benkovic and Tierney? The answer is – they don’t have the spark of creativity that Rogic has.
Valencia will no doubt be hoping to hit on the break and will pack the middle of the park with players, that is where Rogic will be missed the most.
His creativity and ability to find a player with a pass will be sorely missed against the La Liga side, not to mention his goalscoring abilities.
Ryan Christie will attempt to follow in his footsteps. He lacks the guile Rogic has though, even though he is a very good player.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will be confident of getting a result against Valencia. Celtic are in a good run of form at the moment. The task would be made much easier if Rogic was available though.
