Celtic’s Tom Rogic has come in for scathing criticism after Australia’s shock 1-0 defeat to Jordan in the AFC Asian Cup.

One of the pre-tournament favourites, the Socceroos were expected to get their campaign off to a winning start.

However, despite having Rogic among their ranks, they lost 1-0 to minnows Jordan.

The Aussies controversially denied Celtic of Rogic’s services before last week’s crucial Glasgow Derby.

It looks like some of the Australian fans would have preferred the midfielder to have stayed at the other side of the world.

After a disappointing opening match, the fans were not shy to get stuck into the Celtic midfielder.

The most scathing criticism seemed to call his entire Australian career into question.

Then there were of course, those who used Rogic’s poor afternoon as an excuse to target Scottish Football.

Of course Rogic will be hoping his disappointment won’t last too long. His country should bounce back from today’s defeat and progress to the latter stages of the tournament.

However, if worse comes to worst for the Aussies, Celtic won’t be too upset.

Rebounding Rogic

The Wizard of Oz in Celtic’s midfield has been instrumental in their success over the last two and a half years. No Celtic fan will be fooled by a poor performance against Jordan.

Maybe if the Aussies treated him with the respect he deserves, by playing through him, they’d see the same benefits Celtic do.

There won’t be a Celtic fan who wishes anything but the best of luck for Rogic and Australia.

However, if they were to suffer an embarrassing early exit, it wouldn’t be the worst news in the world for Celtic’s treble treble bid.
