Former Celtic striker Tommy Coyne is in no doubt as to who will win the first Glasgow derby of the season on Sunday.

Celtic travel to Ibrox to take on Rangers, with both teams having won their opening three league fixtures. It looks to be a tough game for the Hoops, particularly after the two defeats at Ibrox last season.

However, Coyne firmly believes that the Hoops will triumph in the match, and that a win would lay down a marker for the rest of the season.

“This would be most certainly a chance for Celtic to again lay down the superiority which Celtic have had over the last eight years or more” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.

“There is a lot of pressure on Rangers as the fans are expecting them to go out and keep their good start to the season going. I think Celtic will be too strong.”

Celtic fans will be delighted to hear Coyne’s comments. It is good to see a former player be so adamant that the Hoops will get the win at Ibrox.

A win at the home of Celtic’s biggest rivals would be a massive boost for all at the club. It would also be a big result for Neil Lennon, who needs to get some of the Hoops fans back onside following the loss to Cluj.

There would be no better way than a win over your biggest rivals. Coyne is certainly confident the Hoops can win, lets hope the players and management are as confident.
