Celtic reserve team manager Tommy McIntyre has given captain Kerr McInroy a glowing report.
McInroy has been plying his trade for the reserves this season. He’s been a huge part in their rise to the top of the SPFL Reserve League, as well as their run to the Glasgow Cup final.
As well as dictating the midfield with his composure and class on the ball, he’s been adding goals to his game recently too. The most recent came in the 4-0 win over Partick Thistle last Thursday night in the Glasgow Cup clash at Lennoxtown.

He’s also scored cracking efforts against the likes of Dundee, Queen of the South, and a further brace against Partick. And his performances have led to McIntyre telling the Celtic View (Volume 54, Issue 34, page 36) of McInroy’s influence.
“Kerr’s been very consistent. For me, he’s been excellent. He’s captain of the team and has led by example.
“He shows great maturity in the way he plays, and that’s not gone unnoticed. Kerr, along with many of the other players, have gone up to train with the first team.
“He’s been pivotal in a lot of things we’re trying to achieve. As a team they gelled really well and played reallt well (against Partick Thistle last Thursday)”.
One of many to watch
McInroy is becoming a prominent figure this season in terms of the young stars. He looks a class act in the midfield, and is clearly a player that looks to learn wherever he can.
The obvious concern for McInroy here is the quality Celtic have in his position. Callum McGregor is tied to Parkhead until 2023 at least. Scott Brown, meanwhile, recently signed a new two-year contract.

McInroy could be being groomed as the long-term replacement for Brown, but he would need to start seeing some first-team squads in the future to get used to the match-day experience.
The likes of Ewan Henderson, Armstrong Okoflex, and Mikey Johnston have been involved in first-team affairs this season. The opportunities are clearly there for those impressing consistently enough at youth level.
McInroy is just one of a number of players impressing for the reserves. If McIntyre’s words are anything to go by, Neil Lennon and the first-team staff are taking notice of them too.
