Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart has announced that he will retire from professional football at the end of the season.
The 36-year-old will bring the curtain down on his career at Parkhead, where he has played a major role in securing five pieces of silverware, including two Scottish Premiership titles.
Brendan Rodgers has praised Hart for his ‘brilliant’ impact in Glasgow, telling official club channels: “Joe deserves huge praise and congratulations; he has been such a brilliant asset to Celtic, of course, and the wider game at the highest levels, domestically and internationally.”
In the final months of the campaign, the former England international has a chance to add two more medals to his impressive trophy haul as the Bhoys go all out to secure a domestic double.
During the earlier part of his career, Hart claimed the Premier League title on three occasions with Manchester City, alongside winning four Golden Glove awards, making him a record holder in that respect.
He also picked up 75 caps for his native country at his peak and was among the best goalkeepers in the world across the early 2010s [Transfermarkt].
Nevertheless, Hart will now turn his focus after clearing the air on his future to finishing this term on a strong footing before hanging up his gloves.
