The Tottenham Hotspur supporters have slammed their club’s reported stance on centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The Daily Record reported last night that the player’s valuation has now almost doubled due to his Celtic loan. Despite only wanting less than £6m for him in the summer, the Record believes Spurs now want £10m for the USA international.

That’s despite the fact the defender will be entering the final year of his contract in the summer and isn’t part of Antonio Conte’s plans at White Hart Lane.
Carter-Vickers has been an ever-present at Parkhead this season, racking up as many as 17 appearances for the Hoops in his loan spell so far [Transfermarkt]. He’s played every minute possible under Ange Postecoglou.
CCV has impressed Celtic fans with his dominance both at the back and offensively too. The player has 2 goals to his name and continues to be a strong aerial threat in the opposition penalty area.
Cameron Carter-Vickers won’t be sold to Celtic on the cheap
This is exactly the kind of goalpost-moving you could see the likes of Spurs doing. It really would be pretty shameful considering they had a valuation of the player that they would refuse to stick to because we brought him on further.
Granted, some will say that’s business. It is to an extent, but you can’t toy with a player’s football career. There comes a point where you have to look at the principles and question whether it would be worth just letting the player go.
Make no mistake, you could easily see Celtic splashing out as much as £6m for his services in the summer. He’s an imperative part of the Postecoglou machinery. But £10m? That would be taking things just a touch too far in our book.
Carter-Vickers has earned the right to make his next move in the game. Staying at Spurs clearly isn’t an option, so it would be disappointing if they really are trying to hardball us here.
And it’s clear even their own supporters are anything but impressed with the report last night:
