Famous Celtic fan James McClean is having none of the ’55’ patter flying around social media today, making it clear he knows the score on Instagram this afternoon.

The Stoke City winger makes no secret of the fact he’s a supporter of the Hoops and has a good relationship with the club’s fans online.

Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon also spoke recently in defence of the player after he received over the line social media abuse [Sky Sports].

Following the Bhoys’ draw against Dundee United at Tannadice, the league title has been lost, handing Rangers a piece of major silverware.

McClean was quick to post a defiant message on his Instagram stories though, stating: “Trying to figure out how you can fit 55 league titles into 10 seasons” with laughing emojis.

The Ibrox side and their supporters claim it’s their 55th top-flight league title, but after they were liquidated following financial calamity in 2012, many others regard it as their first.

I’m sure plenty of Celtic fans will get a kick out of McClean’s message.

Let’s be honest, it’s not been the best weekend. There’s not much to smile about at the moment but a wind-up is always welcome, especially when it has an element of truth to it!

In other news, former Celtic goalkeeper Pat Bonner has slammed the club for letting fans down this season.
