Turkish media outlet Aksam has reported that Celtic-linked Bright Osayi-Samuel has agreed to sign for Fenerbahce.

Celtic were reported as highly interested in the Nigerian during the summer (Scottish Sun). It was claimed by the Scottish Sun that chief scour Gary Penrice was central to any deal. Neil Lennon was also said to have wanted him in before the summer window closed in October.

In the end, Osayi-Samuel stayed in London and can sign a pre-contract with anyone between now and the end of the season. Aksam believe he’s already agreed to do so with Fenerbahce.

The Turkish outlet reports that Fener have followed the player for a while. Like Celtic, they’re apparently in need of new reinforcements down the right side too.

Nothing appears to be confirmed as of yet though. There’s been no confirmation from any party that Osayi-Samuel has made his decision. So, from a Celtic perspective it will be a case of waiting to see how this one pans out.

Osayi-Samuel would be a fine rival for Celtic star Forrest

What makes Osayi-Samuel such an attractive proposition is the fact he can play on either side. With Mohamed Elyounoussi struggling to impress, Celtic would surely welcome another option on the left flank too. Osayi-Samuel could provide both.

Some may look at his stats for the season and allow it to drain their excitement of course. The Championship star only has three goals and three assists in 21 appearances. He’s had plenty of opportunities to add to that tally.

The last thing Celtic would need is another winger that lacks an end product. But the youngster’s pace is frightening, and that’s certainly something we lack down the right side at the moment.

He also fits Celtic’s bracket for signings too. At 23, there’s the prospect of massive future reward from him with no risk involved. He could be snapped up for free, which instantly makes this a more attractive proposition.

If Fenerbahce are interested in the player, we’ll have our hands full. A player of Osayi-Samuel’s pace is always going to attract plenty of admirers. It remains to be seen how many of those come from the English Premier League also.

We’ll watch how this one develops closely. But there’s clearly interest in the pacey youngster from several countries.

In other news, Celtic youngster’s bullish remarks suggest a major dressing room mentality shift at Parkhead.
