Celtic midfielder David Turnbull’s Parkhead career has taken another boost tonight.
Turnbull was once again at the heart of everything positive for the Hoops against Ross County. The 2-0 win at Parkhead this evening ensured we didn’t lose any further ground on Rangers in the title race.
However, perhaps just as importantly, it continued the positive momentum of recent weeks. Celtic have now won their last four consecutive matches, and there’s a positive feeling returning to us.
And Turnbull was the catalyst once again. He bagged his first domestic goal for the Celts with a well-taken finish after Jeremi Frimpong’s superb turn and cut-back. Yet all that did was symbolise his importance tonight.
The former Motherwell midfielder also showed superb crossing range with his deliveries. He set up a glorious early chance for Chris Jullien that wasn’t taken in particular. But he also put in a brilliant ball that Kris Ajer also should’ve done better with.
Celtic have signed an absolute gem
Turnbull’s passing range and superb ball-control was also key to our control of the match. Even when Celtic were struggling to create in the first half, he still stood out. He was still managing to get the Hoops high up the pitch and link the play.
You can’t ignore this man’s energy. But perhaps just as impressive was the fact that his accuracy didn’t waver the longer the game went on. When Turnbull had played an hour you still wouldn’t have noticed it. He was still absolutely everywhere and really thrived alongside Callum McGregor and Ismaila Soro.
It’s also important to remember his awareness as the game wore on too. His ball across the box for Odsonne Edouard was also sensational just before the 70-minute mark. He was hooked shortly after.
There’s something vibrant about him that we just can’t drop. With Ibrox looming in just under two weeks, Turnbull has to be in there. He’s adding so much to us. It’s no surprise we’ve won four on the spin with him at the heart of things.
