Celtic will play a total of six pre-season matches this summer after the club revealed the full schedule for Ange Postecoglou and his Bhoys.

In a new post on the official website, it’s detailed that the team will play unknown opponents on July 6th and July 9th in Austria as part of the already announced training camp.

In the past, this has been against local opposition playing at a lower level.

The group will then travel to the Czech Republic on July 13th to face Banik Ostrava as part of their centenary celebrations.

It’s back to Celtic Park after that to play Jon Dahl Tomasson’s Blackburn Rovers on July 16th, before jetting out to Europe again, this time facing Legia Warsaw for a send-off to iconic goalkeeper Artur Boruc on July 20th.

The final match on the six-game schedule will come against Norwich City on July 23rd at Celtic Park, one week before the first competitive game of the season in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic are due back at Lennoxtown in the week beginning 27th June, though it’s become custom in recent years to allow those off playing international football extra rest.

Nonetheless, many of the squad will meet-up in to be put through their paces by Ange Postecoglou and the coaching staff ahead of the Austria trip the following week.

As many as 13 players have been representing their countries with the majority coming through without injury incident.

It’s an exciting summer and it’s really not that long until we see Celtic back in action, albeit in a friendly. Put July 6th in your diaries!
