UEFA’s Champions League and Europa League social media accounts are enjoying the attention of Celtic fans today after sharing some iconic 2022 moments with millions of followers.
The first highlight was Reo Hatate’s sumptuous volleyed pass from a Josip Juranovic throw-in in the recent game against Real Madrid at Celtic Park.
Already viewed over 100,000 times, some Celtic fans are even flocking to the post to pretend the pass was made by James McCarthy in an effort to send any admirers off the scent!
Hatate was one of Celtic’s stand-out in that match against the reigning European champions as the Bhoys went toe-to-toe with them in a frantic first half.
Ultimately we couldn’t capitalise on chances and Madrid went on to beat us handily, but that first 45 minutes had many supporters dreaming and Hatate was a big part of it.
Celtic’s European campaign this season ultimately ended in disappointment but the club are again building towards another tilt at the Champions League this Autumn.
MORE CELTIC STORIES
If we see out this league title win, we’ll book our places in the group stages again where players such as Hatate will get the opportunity to shine again.
The UEFA Europa League account is also attracting plenty of Celtic chatter too after they shared a highlight of Kevin Trapp’s ridiculous last-minute save from Ryan Kent in last season’s final.
There’s no point in pretending we didn’t want Frankfurt to take care of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team in Seville and Trapp’s save has become an iconic moment of that occasion.
He absolutely broke Rangers’ hearts twice, with this save and the one from Aaron Ramsey in the penalty shoot-out. As far as I’m concerned, Trapp is a hero! As one commenter under the video put it, “The man who saved humanity.”
Thanks for the Friday fun UEFA!
