It’s hard to believe that it’s seven years to the day since a Neil Lennon led Celtic side triumphed against the all-stars of Barcelona.

Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Pique and the like were all present as the Bhoys secured a memorable 2-1 win on November 7th 2012.

The victory is perhaps our finest of the 21st century and it hasn’t gone unnoticed in UEFA quarters either. The official UEFA Champions League Twitter feed posted some highlights of what they called “a famous night at Celtic Park” on the seven year anniversary.

And Celtic fans will never tire seeing those goals again.

Fans would love to see Celtic face the likes of Barcelona again

The anniversary seems like a fitting reminder of what Celtic were, and still can be, under Neil Lennon. The Northern Irishman is often criticised for not being the most tactically intelligent manager, but he showed plenty acumen to get us out of that group with the Catalan side, Benfica and Spartak Moscow.

Lennon has already shown in this season’s Europa League that he knows how to set up a team. He has arguably outperformed each of his managerial rivals already in a run that has seen us take seven points from our first possible nine.

That famous Champions League run in 2012/2013 came off the back of a season in the Europa League. Many will look for parallels if this new-look side can continue to grow in the Thursday night matches.

If they do, and Lennon continues to show promising signs, we could soon be toasting another momentous victory – like the one against Barcelona.
