UFC fighter Molly McCann will be cheering on Celtic tonight as they host Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
McCann has been spotted training in Celtic gear previously and is currently preparing for a massive fight at the O2 Arena in London next month.
She’s taken to social media today to show off her new Celtic top, with January signing Daizen Maeda’s name emblazoned on the back.
‘Meatball Molly’, as she’s known, is actually a proud Evertonian, so her heart lies at Goodison Park first and foremost. However, she also follows Celtic and has regularly taken to Twitter over the last 12 months to both cheer on the Bhoys and wind-up Rangers fans.
McCann picked up a ‘fight of the night’ bonus in her last UFC bout against Ji Yeon Kim in September, with fans eagerly awaiting her next appearance in the octagon.
The proud Liverpool-native is scheduled to be taking on Brazilian Luana Carolina in London next month on a card headlined by number 6 heavyweight Alexander Volkov and number 11 Tom Aspinall.
She’s clearly an admirer of Maeda and he could get a start against the Norwegian champions tonight. The Japanese forwards’ pace and movement could be a real thorn in the defence of a side we’re expecting to press high.
Maeda is still getting up to full speed at the Bhoys but has already scored three goals in six matches.
Another knock out punch tonight would go a long way to making him even more of a hero with the Celtic support.
In other news, “He is really good”; Celtic hero Callum McGregor catches the eye of Bodo/Glimt boss.
