“Unbelievable”; Rangers fans not happy with TOTW as Celtic’s Moi Elyounoussi named Star Man

It appears that some of our rival supporters failed to understand just how the SPFL Team of the Week works after Moi Elyounoussi was labeled this weekend’s Star Man.

Elyounoussi produced a sensational individual performance to bag a big 4-1 win at Fir Park against Motherwell for Celtic. It was all the more important given the fact we were already trailing in the title race and the pressure had been ramped up after a loss to Sparta Prague just three days previously.

Up stepped Moi to score three goals all of differing types. The first was all about positioning as he latched onto a rebound from Albian Ajeti’s effort off the post. The second being a lovely finish from a low cut-back from Tom Rogic.

However, the postage stamp was put onto his display with his killer third. Hatem Elhamed’s deep cross was powered home by Moi as he placed a brilliant header in at the far post.

A few hours later, Rangers were in action as they hammered Hamilton Academical 8-0 at Ibrox. It never looked like being a fixture that was going to trouble them, and you would’ve done well to find an optimistic Celtic fan who thought Rangers could’ve dropped points there.

Yet their supporters want them to be getting all the praise going despite how poor Accies were. And that extended to the SPFL as they selected their Team of the Week.

As is the norm, only one player per team was selected for combined XI. Elyounoussi simply had to be there, and Rangers were also represented by Kemar Roofe after he scored a brace vs Hamilton.

But that wasn’t enough for some who believed the team should’ve contained a plethora of players from Ibrox. Apparently, the corruption at the top of Scottish football extended to not giving Rangers more than one player in a Team of the Week selection. Shocking stuff that, eh?

So here’s a look at some of the unhappy reactions after Moi was voted as Scotland’s most influential player of the weekend:
