It would be a big surprise to see Celtic move for a central defender in the January transfer window, yet a report from Sky Sports indicates the Bhoys are keeping an eye on that market.
Brendan Rodgers has spoken a bit about the January transfer window this week, indicating that plenty of players will be shipped out to be replaced by select quality.
Plans are being put in place for what is hopefully a very productive month for the Scottish Premiership leaders.
One name that has popped up is Nathaniel Adjei. The 21-year-old Ghanaian, who plays for Hammarby in Sweden, is said by Sky Sports to be attracting attention from teams in Scotland, Belgium and Italy and Celtic are on the ‘monitoring’ list.
That could mean a lot of things, of course. He’s made 21 appearances for his club this year and is apparently producing impressive enough data to catch the eye of teams across the continent.
Celtic should focus on other transfer needs in January
With Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki, Liam Scales and Gustaf Lagerbielke in place, Celtic are well stocked for defenders in the second half of the season even if Nathaniel Phillips and Yuki Kobayashi head elsewhere.
Other areas of the team need to be addressed first before bringing in another young player such as Adjei.

That’s the most likely scenario, too, despite this transfer link. Rodgers has already spoken of his desire to bring in players of quality who can come in and hit the ground running here. The Hammarby star doesn’t fit that profile.
So while Celtic may be keeping an eye on his situation, don’t expect a bid fired in from the Bhoys anytime soon.
