Celtic performance against St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup was one of the best of this season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side had a point to prove against the Perth club after St Johnstone beat Celtic in the Scottish Premiership just over two weeks ago.

However, that 1-0 defeat appears to have motivated Rodgers’ players after Celtic destroyed St Johnstone 5-0 in the Scottish Cup at the weekend.

The Perth side put up a valian first-half fight, but in 11 minutes, Celtic motored into the final with four goals. Here, the club’s Unique Angle footage shows the exact moment the St Johnstone players knew their Scottish Cup journey was over.

The Celtic goal that finally broke St Johnstone’s hearts in the Scottish Cup

Many would be forgiven if they thought that Jota’s Celtic goal was the one that broke the St Johnstone players.

But it wasn’t and here, Celtic’s Unique Angle shows the exact moment the McDiarmid Park side knew their Scottish Cup dream was effectively over.

Daizen Maeda’s second goal was the straw that broke the camel’s back as St Johnstone goalkeeper Andy Fisher flopped onto his back, defender Daniel Balodis hung his head and right back Barry Douglas booted the ball away in sheer frustration.

The walk back to the centre-circle was a tough one as the realisation that Celtic had just blown them away weighed down on the St Johnstone players.

Three big Celtic Hampden semi-final wins

Celtic have enjoyed a number of big wins at Hampden over the years so here are three of the biggest over recent times.

Hopefully, come the 24th of May, Celtic will find a similar scoreline and result against Aberdeen for Rodgers to collect his third treble as the Hoops boss.
