When Celtic return to league action against Hamilton on Saturday, it will be intriguing to see if Hoops boss Neil Lennon decides to rest any of his players that were involved in the international games.
One such player who could be rest is Odsonne Edouard. The Hoops striker played twice for the French under-21 side recently.
With that in mind, Lennon may want to rest the player ahead of the opening Europa League clash. Should that be the case, then Vakoun Issouf Bayo could be handed his second start for the Hoops.
Played well in competitive debut
That could be a good idea. Bayo performed well in his completive debut for the Hoops, the 3-1 win over Hearts last month.
He was very unfortunate not to score his first goals for the Hoops in the game. He was involved in two of Celtic’s three goals, but the goals were ultimately not awarded to Bayo but were credited as two Hearts own goals.
As a result, he will be eager to set the record straight and score his first Celtic goals against Hamilton. With no disrespect to Hamilton, Bayo will be confident that he can get a goal that he is no doubt eager to score.
Could provide manager with positive dilemma
A good performance by Bayo in the game may give the Hoops boss a positive dilemma ahead of Celtic’s run of games in the Europa League. There is no doubt that Edouard is the number one Celtic striker. However, Bayo has a real chance of becoming the main back-up in the team.
For the moment Bayo seems to be ahead of Leigh Griffiths when it comes to providing competition for Edouard.
That could eventually change. For now though, Bayo will just need to keep performing well, and impressing the Hoops management. He has got off to a good start, but he needs to keep that up.
