Vaclav Cerny has opened up on his embarrassing antics at Celtic Park in Rangers’ win in Sunday’s Glasgow Derby.

Celtic battled back from 2-0 down to level the scores and just when it looked like Brendan Rodgers’ side was about to win the match, Hamza Igamanne popped up with an 88th minute winner against the run of play.

However, the result was marred by Vaclav Cerny’s antics where the Rangers midfielder celebrated the goal by spraying Celtic fans in the family stand with water which caused uproar in the crowd.

The Czech midfielder was asked about the incident and his answer is just as embarrassing as his Celtic Park antics.

Vaclav Cerny takes no responsibility as Rangers midfielder brushes off Celtic Park antics

Just over 48 hours after the game, Cerny has witnessed the fallout of his actions and how the Celtic fans reacted to his act of petulance.

So it would be reasonable to assume that there would be a hint of regret from Cerny for causing problems in a Glasgow Derby fixture that had passed rather peacefully. But he didn’t.

Cerny told iSport, “I don’t want to tell you much about it, nor can I, it seems a bit absurd to me.

“The stands are so close, to have open water… I didn’t even know what was happening at that moment. I just ran. It’s a derby.”

Vaclav Cerny’s embarrassing lack of accountability for Celtic Park actions

Cerny is a 27-year-old man. He also knows the ferocious nature of the rivalry in this fixture and to say he ‘just ran’ and that the fallout from what he did is ‘absurd’ just shows that there is no remorse from the Rangers midfielder.

Had he just celebrated normally like the majority of the Rangers players did, there would have been no issue from any Celtic fan but his actions were inflammatory and could have caused more trouble than actually happened.

Thankfully, there was no serious reaction to Cerny’s stupidity and hopefully someone at Rangers has had a word in his ear about it ahead of the final derby at Ibrox.
