Celtic striker Vakoun Bayo will need to wait to notch his first official Scottish goal.

The SPFL have ruled that the Ivorian didn’t score his two strikes against Hearts on Sunday.

Instead, the governing body are awarding the goals to the Jambos as own goals.

It is disappointing to the emerging fan favourite who was dazzling supporters with his performance.

Vakoun Bayo continues Celtic goal wait

The former FC DAC striker thought he got off to a stormer in his first Hoops start. He ‘scored’ two goals and was unlucky not to notch a hat-trick after hitting the woodwork.

Bayo even had to leave the field early due to injury but was a stick on for three goals.

Following the game, Hearts continued to question whether Bayo is the correct scorer of the goals.

The wait is over as the SPFL confirm that Christophe Berra scored the first and Craig Halkett got the second.

Bayo attacked a cross into the box and collided with Berra before the ball hit the back of the net.

The second goal saw another close collision with the ball darting off the bottom of the players to beat Bobby Zlamal.

Bayo is going to out for revenge in his next match to make sure his next successful strikes count.

Bayo winning himself a possible Rangers showing?

The 22-year-old is a popular figure at the moment with the supporters.

He even had a song before turning out over 10 minutes for his new club.

Outwith the goals, Bayo showed how dangerous he was with his positioning and movement.

His involvement in the two goals is also going to have Neil Lennon scratching his head.

Predictably, Odsonne Edouard will get the nod at Ibrox, but did Bayo do enough to get a sub spot?

If the game isn’t going well then Lennon will now know he can put Bayo on to cause damage. He is a physical threat in the air which is key for Glasgow Derby matches.

Could this be a new beginning for another top striker at the club?
