New Celtic signing Vakoun Bayo will try and get Kouassi Eboue back into the first team.

The injured midfielder is going to be out until the end of the season following a positive run in the team.

However, fellow countryman Bayo claims he will try and help his pal to get his spot back.

Ever since Eboué signed for the club from Krasnodar in a move for under £3 million, Bayo has been keeping up with his friend’s journey in Scotland.

Bayo told the Sunday Post: “I have actually watched a lot more of Celtic since Eboue signed because we are really good friends.

“If we can help each other, we will, because we are from the same country. There is a community feeling there.

“I asked him about the team, the group and he said it was a really good group and encouraged me to come and play here.”

Bayo wants to increase Ivory Coast connection with Celtic

The striker is aiming to get into his national team by replicating his form in Slovakia with FC DAC.

He was an under-21 international, where he and Eboué got familiar with each other.

The two players aren’t the only players with an Ivory Coast connection at the club as former internationalist Kolo Touré is a coach at Celtic and helped influence the January move.

Both players have strong competition to get into the Celtic first team when the time comes.

The Hoops already have Odsonne Edouard as first-choice while Timothy Weah and Oliver Burke are making their mark from the off.

Whereas Kouassi faces an even tougher task to displace either captain Scott Brown and Callum McGregor with the likes of Olivier Ntcham and Nir Bitton breathing down their necks.

Both men set their sights high but they’ll both need to bide their time before getting their chance.
