After Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Motherwell on Saturday, the players and the fans were feeling despondent. With the Scottish Cup semi final against Rangers looming next Sunday, the performance of the team, not the result was the biggest disappointment for me.
But Motherwell striker Kevin van Veen still believes that despite that, Celtic are still head and shoulders above the rest.
Van Veen said [The Daily Record], “Celtic are miles ahead of everybody, for me.

“To go to their stadium and get a point, it feels like a victory. You need to be respectful – but you need to have a pair of balls.
“You have to come here and not be scared, because if you get scared they will roll you over.”
Whilst delighted with his own scoring record this season, the Motherwell striker took time to recognise the quality of Kyogo Furuhashi, “Kyogo is the best striker in the league.
“He’s the man with the most brains for me, he’s clever.
“Of course I’m trying to put pressure on but all due respect to Kyogo, he’s amazing, but I need to look after myself as well.
“I’ve got five more games, 24 goals already and everybody laughed at me when I talked about getting 30.
“When I hit the mark I want to rub everyone’s noses in it!”
Why Celtic’s draw is just what we needed with Rangers in mind
Ange Postecoglou’s team have spoiled us with great attacking football, plenty of goals and players like Jota producing pieces of magic that get us off our seats. None of that was evident against Motherwell.

But to be honest, the players are only human. So to expect them to produce that type of football every week is just not feasible.
There is a positive we can take from that result. The players will be disappointed in the performance. They will be itching to put that right.
And what better fixture to do it than against Rangers. Come Sunday, the team will be motivated and ready to go. They will know that a repeat of the Motherwell performance will end their treble hopes and their chance to make it into the Celtic history books.
