Read MoreVictor Wanyama on playing with Celtic's 'world class' players and Champions League dream
Celtic have had many great midfielders play for the club over the generations.
From Bertie Auld to Paul McStay to Neil Lennon and Scott Brown. And to think I haven’t even mentioned the likes of Shunsuke Nakamura or Stan Petrov shows that we have been spoiled as Celtic supporters when it comes to watching some of the best footballing talent play at Paradise.
Speaking about the players that he played with during his time at the club, former midfield powerhouse Victor Wanyama opened up about his teammates and his one Champions League regret.
Speaking to The Celtic View Podcast, Wanyama said, “I remember they had some world-class players that time that I joined. They had some top midfielders. The likes of Ki, Beram Kayal, Joe Ledley and Scott Brown. It was fantastic to be in the same team with those guys.
“Gary Hooper, Anthony Stokes and Samaras. It was great to be with these guys. And in my mind, I’ve come here to win something and also to try and make some history in the Champions League with Celtic.
“It was a pity my dream didn’t come true of winning the Champions League with Celtic. But I will still be supporting Celtic and I want one day for them to be able to win the Champions League.”
The Kenyan international will always be remembered for that goal against Barcelona in the famous 2-1 Champions League win at Celtic Park.
A £900,000 signing from Beerschot, Wanyama will certainly go down as one the club’s best pieces of transfer business as he helped the club to win the league in his first season and then onto a Double the following year.
