Watching the Celtic youths defeat Rangers at Hampden last night, there were elements of our play that were reminiscent of how Ange Postecoglou has the first team go about their business.
Building from the back, patient play, high press with attacking intent. All evident in last night’s 6-5 Youth Cup Final win over Rangers. Not only that, listening to the Celtic captain, Kyle Ure speak after the game, you can clearly see the influence that Ange Postecoglou has had on the youngsters.
Speaking post-match, Ure said [Celtic FC], “It was frantic. It was weird. Nobody’s ever played that game like that. We went behind early doors.

“We had to stick to our game plan, stick to the way we play. Which we done. We just need to tidy up on the defensive details that will take us to the next level.
“Not just the defenders, the midfielders and the goalie. It’s everybody throughout the team. The way that we press, the structure of it, communication, everything that involves defending.
“We just need to become better because as you saw today, our attacking play at times was unbelievable. I mean, we’ve scored six goals and it was really good goals that we scored.
“I thought the boys were very good on the ball. We were brave. We played. We tried to stay to our style and we got what we deserve.”
Ange Postecoglou is building with the Celtic youth in mind
Young Ure was delivering all the soundbites that we have become all too familiar with from the Celtic manager. ‘Stick to the game plan’, ‘take us to the next level’, teamwork and ‘brave’ attacking play.

All things that the Celtic manager has spoken about since arriving at the club. All that was missing was ‘We Never Stop’ but the youngsters showed that on the pitch in abundance.
For me, it was an impressive interview from a young man who looks like he has a bright future at Celtic. And who better to develop under than Ange Postecoglou?
