Former Celtic defender Vidar Riseth says that AC Milan are “really interested” in signing Kristoffer Ajer.
Last night, talk of Ajer moving to Milan emerged again with the Scottish Sun breaking the story.
They say that new Milan boss Ralf Rangnick will be handed a whopping £75million transfer kitty this summer and Celtic’s Norwegian centre-back is high on his list.
The report also says that the Serie A side have admired Ajer for a long time and that they’re “weighing up a bid.”
And Ajer’s compatriot Riseth reckons the move could be a goer.
He told the Scottish Sun: “I know they are really interested. Kris is the type of player they want.”
Ajer could be our big money exit this summer
The report from the Sun also mentions that the Italians would have to bid around £20million before Celtic even considered the possibility of selling the first-team regular.
Ajer played in 28 of our 30 league matches last season – netting three goals.
He was used in various positions throughout the season and will be seen as a key part of Neil Lennon’s squad – especially when we’ve already lost fellow defenders Jozo Simunovic, Jonny Hayes and Moritz Bauer this summer.
Celtic usually sell one big-hitter each summer and time will tell whether that is the case this year too.
If it does come to pass, then Ajer might be pretty high up the list of players likely to be sold, alongside Tom Rogic or Olivier Ntcham.
And if AC Milan do indeed decide to splash the cash this summer, it could be hard for us to turn a hefty bid down.
