Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers helped protect one celebrating young fan from stewards after the win over Livingston on Saturday, returning him to the buoyant Bhoys support.
Despite going down to ten men in the first half, Celtic won 3-0 in West Lothian thanks to goals from Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley and Daizen Maeda. As one young fan entered the pitch following the full-time whistle, they were restricted by stewards.
But Rodgers was having none of it and ensured that the youngster made it back to the stands without being further manhandled. You can see a video of the incident on social media platform X via this link or embedded below, after user @Georgina87x uploaded footage from the ground.
The clip is quickly going viral around the Celtic support. Both those at the game and online seemed to appreciate Rodgers’ actions.
Today was a great afternoon for the manager after European disappointment next week. Not only did he see his team produce an accomplished performance in difficult circumstances, it seems he’s taken a step forward with his fan relationship too.
Stewards have a job to do, but Rodgers clearly felt they overstepped the mark with the youngster and he was spot on in using his influence to step in.

Celtic are still unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership with five wins and a draw from the first six matches. Now on 16 points, today’s win puts further pressure on city rivals Rangers, who suddenly find themselves seven points behind with a Sunday match to come.
Today looked like a difficult test on the back of Europe, but Celtic have come through it and will go to Motherwell next weekend full of confidence for another Saturday lunchtime kick-off.
In other news, Brendan Rodgers delivers promising assessment of Reo Hatate’s Celtic future.
