Celtic star Callum McGregor was ecstatic with the performance of the Scotland team tonight as he helped them to a crucial win at home to Israel.

Finding themselves behind in the match twice, Scotland produced a thrilling second-half display to score at the death, win 3-2 and take a massive step towards the World Cup play-offs. Hampden was roaring in scenes not witnessed for years.

After the match McGregor spoke to the Scottish FA media team and nailed his analysis as usual, telling his teammates they have to regroup and produce another big display on Tuesday night.

A win against the Faroe Islands midweek and against Moldova next month will guarantee Scotland a place in the play-offs, and likely as a seeded team.

That would make the last match at home to Denmark a glorified friendly if they continue their impressive form too.

McGregor was at the heart of the action tonight and impressed for his country, with midfield partners Billy Gilmour and John McGinn also excelling.

That midfield three is looking a class above right now and is by far Scotland’s strongest area of the pitch.

The Celtic man plays no small part and will be crucial in these upcoming internationals, working alongside other senior members of the squad, to guide the players through the last stages of the group.

It was brilliant to see him so happy after the game. On yersel Cal!
