Celtic defender Liam Scales is having a fantastic week. Not only did he score his first goal for the Bhoys against Dundee United, he produced an excellent performance at home to Real Betis last night.

Now, today, he’s won the goal of the season award at his former club Shamrock Rovers. The Irish club announced the honour today on social media.

Scales’ goal came against Dundalk in the President’s Cup all the way back in March, but apparently, it wasn’t bettered by one of his former teammates all year! You can see it below or via this link.

It’s an exquisite piece of skill the bamboozle the defender and stick it into the back of the net. I wouldn’t mind seeing some of that at Celtic at all.

Scales is only just coming into Ange Postecoglou’s plans but has already shown a willingness to get forward and support attacks from a defensive position.

He has every chance of getting himself more minutes in the weeks to come as Celtic’s schedule continues at a heavy pace.

With players seemingly dropping out of contention due to injury with every passing game, we may even have to rely on him.

Luckily then he’s made a good impression on the manager and the Celtic support. Make no mistake, this lad can play a bit and I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops over the coming months working with Ange at Lennoxtown.

In other news, The earliest Celtic can face Brendan Rodgers in Conference League as he disrespects tournament.
