Remember Andrew Gutman? He was the Celtic signing from America who never managed to make a single appearance for the club due to work visa issues.

The defender eventually made a permanent switch to Atlanta United after a couple of loan moves to teams in the USA, and it’s there he has popped up on the radar tonight.

He scored an absolute beauty of a goal to win his team a match at home to Seattle Sounders, which you can see via this link or embedded below.

Gutman came through the college system in the States, winning the prestigious Hermann Trophy.

There had been hopes he could make an impact at the Bhoys, even making the trip over to train with the team at Lennoxtown on multiple occasions.

He spoke publicly of his dream of playing for Celtic in the media here, telling The Glasgow Times he thought about it every day when out on loan.

Unfortunately, the stars just didn’t align. But he hasn’t let his setback in Scotland hinder his career and is now making regular appearances for Atlanta after a loan spell at New York RB.

Tonight he was only on the pitch for nine minutes, making a comeback from an injury, but still managed to come up with that beauty of an effort, which is now rapidly being shared across social media.

Now 25, the left-back looks set to have a productive career at the top level in his homeland, and if he keeps producing highlight reel stunners such as this one, he might even earn a move back to Europe at some point!

In other news, “It’s going for 95 minutes”; Relentless Celtic leave impression on Ross County.
