Celtic’s first January signing, Yuki Kobayashi, has said his goodbyes to his Vissel Kobe teammates as his former club released behind-the-scenes footage and an interview ahead of his departure.

The 22-year-old officially signed for the Hoops last week, with Celtic supporters being left pleasantly surprised to see the club’s winter business get underway in November.

Ange Postecoglou utilised his knowledge of the Japanese market once again, making Kobayashi his fifth addition from the J-League.

Although the central defender won’t be able to feature in competitive action until January, he can link up with his new Hoops teammates from the 1st of December.

As Postecoglou and his squad prepare to head off to Portugal for a mid-season training camp, the January recruit is expected to join up with the group.

That time will give Kobayashi a settling-in period, which will help the defender acclimatise to life at Celtic Park over the next month.

And the former Vissel Kobe man appears to be on his way to Glasgow pretty soon after his old club released behind-the-scenes dressing room footage of Kobayashi saying his goodbyes.

The ex-J-League winners released a 22-minute long video in which the youngster said goodbye to his old teammates and Vissel Kobe supporters as he prepares to take the next major step in his career.

Japanese-speaking Celtic supporters can tune into the video on YouTube, with Kobayashi now looking towards his future at Celtic.

It is certainly a classy send-off by his old side, who will be watching one of their academy graduates take to the big stage in Europe.

Of course, Kobayashi isn’t the only former Vissel man to turn out for Celtic, with Kyogo Furuhashi being a fantastic success since his arrival in Glasgow last summer.

Here’s hoping we can get a similar level of success from our latest recruit, who will be coming into the club looking to make an impact and establish himself at the club during his first six months.

He looks like a figure who will be missed by his old club and teammates, and it is good to see he was given the opportunity to say his goodbyes.
