Well, that wasn’t a bad afternoon at all for Celtic man Luca Connell.
Connell, who had been on the fringes of the Celtic squad, joined Queens Park two days ago. The Irish youth international joined from Bolton Wanderers in 2019, but hasn’t been able to make a significant breakthrough at the club.
Already, though, he’s making an impact in League Two with the Mount Florida side. Against Stanraer today, Connell contributed an assist in a 3-0 win for the Spiders [BBC], who look good value for promotion. The Irishman was thrust into the first-team very shortly after joining, and left the pitch after 74 minutes.
It’s a good sign for the former Bolton man. With opportunities limited at Celtic, the midfielder’s career had come to a bit of a standstill. The lack of official Reserve team football means that League 2 should be a happy hunting ground for the Bhoys youngster.
