Some West Ham United supporters have been looking on enviously at the form of striker Albian Ajeti after he made it three goals in three league appearances for Celtic this afternoon.

The Switzerland cap returned from international duty to make his first start for the club away to Ross County in the Highlands, scoring the second goal of the day in a 5-0 victory for Neil Lennon’s Bhoys.

Getting another hour of action under his belt, he is not even at full fitness yet but has taken another important step towards starting regularly.

He was deployed in a new 3-5-2 system alongside Odsonne Edouard, giving fans a glimpse of a new partnership that could take Scottish football by storm.

Ajeti’s goal today follows on from efforts against Dundee United and Motherwell off the bench.

The 23-year-old joined the Scottish champions for a reported £5m fee (Sky Sports) and is already looking to be something of a bargain.

It follows on from a difficult spell at West Ham, where he failed to score a single goal in 12 appearances, most of which were from the substitute’s bench.

The English Premier League is obviously a higher standard than the Scottish Premiership but Ajeti looks to have a poacher’s instinct that would be a hit at most clubs, given the chance.

West Ham’s loss looks to be our gain and hopefully Ajeti can go on to show a consistent goalscoring streak in support of Edouard.

What a boost that would be to our title ambitions.
