As transfer news continues to dominate the Celtic headlines, one player who is said to be attracting interest from Brendan Rodgers this week has still been hard at work with his current club.

We discussed yesterday who Mateusz Bogusz is in talks with Celtic with Rodgers looking to spend about £8m on the MLS attacking midfielder.

A Poland U21 international, Bogusz plays with Los Angeles FC and has scored 17 goals so far this season. And after seeing him net his latest goal in a 4-0 win over Colorado Rapids last night, it’s little wonder the Celtic boss is keen on bringing him to Paradise.

And looking at the strike from another angle, it looks even better:

Bogusz attacking threat is perfect for Celtic

Bogusz has been in brilliant form for Los Angeles FC this season. In 33 appearances, his 17 goals have helped take his team to second place in the MLS Western Conference just two points behind LA Galaxy.

But on a personal level, Bogusz has been one of LAFC’s best players this season. According to Fotmob, he is their second top goalscorer just three behind their main striker, Denis Bouanga.

However, combining goals and assists this season, Bogusz is the MLS side’s most potent attacking threat with 24.

Rated at 7.66 for the season, the Pole is the American’s second most consistent player and has an xG of 7 for the season.

Bogusz averages 1.4 shots on target every game, is LAFC’s top creator of chances with 51 and averages 0.58 goals per game.

Should Matt O’Riley decide to swap Celtic for Brighton, it seems that the 23-year-old attacker could be the very player that Celtic need if that midfield position becomes vacant this summer.
