For many Celtic fans, scoring at Parkhead wearing the green and white hoops is the ultimate dream.
Supporters can only imagine what it’s like to be Luke McCowan and make a Glasgow Derby debut against Rangers in a winning Celtic side.
Or even Adam Idah who scored the winning goal in the Scottish Cup final against Rangers last season in the dying minutes of the game.
Those are dreams are now realities for Idah and McCowan who are both self-confessed Celtic fans as they have now experienced what many Hoops supporters daydream about.
But for those players who were not brought up as fans of the club when they were young, does scoring for Celtic feel the same?
Well, judging by Reo Hatate’s unseen celebration after scoring against Aberdeen on Saturday, 67 Hail Hail is going to say, yes.
Reo Hatate’s class Celtic roar after scoring vs Aberdeen
Hatate is no stranger to scoring big goals for Celtic. The Japanese midfielder has found the back of the net in games against Rangers, Hearts and Hibs.
But after opening the scoring against Jimmy Thelin’s team on Saturday, Hatate’s unseen roar was just class.
That goal was Hatate’s third of the season as the Japan international competes to hold onto a regular starting spot.
Competition between himself, Arne Engels and Paulo Bernardo has meant the Japanese has started two games on the bench. Hatate has been subject to some unfair criticism at Celtic but is still so valuable to Brendan Rodgers this season.
Reo Hatate’s six of the best Celtic goals
Hatate has scored 18 goals in 98 appearances for Celtic this season and here, 67 Hail Hail picks out six of the best:
- Hearts 1 v 2 Celtic: 26.01.2022. Hatate scored a stunner in only his second game for Celtic.
- Celtic 3 v 0 Rangers: 02.02.2022 Reo Hatate scores two in massive Glasgow Derby win.
- Motherwell 1 v 2 Celtic: 01.10.2022 Reo Hatate scores the winner in a vital away win.
- Celtic 4 v 0 Aberdeen: 18.02.2023 Hatate bags another double in rout of Aberdeen.
There is no doubt that when it’s needed, Hatate steps up in the big moments for Celtic and the fans will be hoping that he does the same when the Hoops travel to Italy to face Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday.
