Celtic spent Friday training for the final time ahead of today’s Glasgow derby against Rangers. Neil Lennon had a full complement of players available once more after the international break.

Celtic decided to give fans a look behind the scenes ahead of the game, and on Friday night the club uploaded a brief clip to the official YouTube channel.

The video showed the players training at Lennoxtown. Scott Brown seemed to be leading from the front as expected. However, two other players were singled out for attention in the clip, and it is a duo that would be making their first Celtic starts of the season if they are selected for the game.

New Bhoy deep in concentration

Diego Laxalt can be spotted at the 37-second mark. The camera picks him out deep in concentration whilst doing some squat type exercises. Meanwhile, at the 42-second mark, Leigh Griffiths can be seen following in the footsteps of his teammates as they do work running in-between markers.

Maybe it is just a coincidence that duo are prominently shown in the video. However, Neil Lennon might well be thinking of starting Laxalt and Griffiths in the game.

Of the two, Laxalt might seem the more likely. The reason for that is that he has been working with his teammates for over week, whilst Greg Taylor has been away on international duty.

Striker has to contend with fit again teammate

That will give him plenty of time to get used to how Neil Lennon wants Celtic to play. As for Griffiths, he has to contend with Albian Ajeti being fit once more. As a result, he may be left on the bench, where he will still be an excellent option for the Hoops to have.

Indeed, the 67HH predicted XI for the game has Laxalt starting, with Griffiths set to miss out. We shall find out soon enough when the team is announced. Still, it is good to see the duo working so hard ahead of such a big match for the Hoops.

In other news, Celtic deserve more respect ahead of the Glasgow derby.
