Celtic are headed to the Premier Sports Cup semi-final after navigating a difficult first 70 minutes against Falkirk to emerge 5-2 winners.

Aberdeen await at Hampden for the reigning Scottish Premiership champions, who were made to work for their reward amid John McGlynn’s brave approach at Celtic Park.

Ross MacIver and Finn Yeats hit home either side of Paulo Bernardo’s equaliser to heighten the stakes on a day where Celtic weren’t at their fluid best. However, the cavalry came off the bench to take control of proceedings as braces from Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn secured cup progression.

Despite having the makings of a frustrating afternoon, the Bhoys showed character to get the job done, capping a fine week following their Champions League triumph over Slovan Bratislava.

Resounding scorelines have become Celtic’s forte of late, so it is only right we revel in the class scenes as Falkirk became the latest side to come unstuck in Glasgow’s east end.

Class scenes as Celtic defeat Falkirk in the Premier Sports Cup

As always, Celtic have released their unique angle video, and there is plenty to chew over after another victorious day for the men in hoops.

First of all, it would make sense to start with Bernardo’s equalising goal, where he and Alex Valle reacted passionately amid frustration due to Falkirk’s positive start at Celtic Park.

Idah’s leveller generated more of a muted response as his main priority was to head back to the centre circle as Celtic looked to gain the edge, but his strike to claim a brace was worth waiting for mere seconds later.

After Kuhn stole the ball from Sean Mackie, the Irishman’s delicious touch and finish were matched by a brilliant knee slide in front of the supporters before he was mobbed by starting teammates and substitutes, which led to him geeing up the crowd ahead of the Bhoys finishing strongly.

In contrast, counterpart Kuhn was cool as a cucumber as he joyously wheeled away following a double of his own, providing some added shine to a scoreline representative of the Hoops’ mentality to go right to the end this term.

Overall, Celtic showed fighting spirit to roar ahead by such a margin after previously finding themselves in a tight spot. Hopefully, they can continue their excellent form away to St Johnstone this weekend!
