Young Celtic talent Ewan Henderson’s two crucial assists sent Dunfermline Athletic into the Scottish Championship playoffs over the weekend.

Henderson, who’s spending the rest of the season on loan in Fife, was the shining light once again. It was he who managed to secure two vital assists for Craig Wighton, who bagged a brace in the 4-2 win.

Dunfermline started the day only a point ahead of Inverness with two games remaining. But the Pars’ win coupled with Caley Thistle’s defeat at Hearts has ensured their spot in the playoffs ahead of their final league game against Alloa.

Henderson’s side had already been pegged back from 2-0 down before he made his mark. And below, you can see both of his superb assists for goals number three and four on Saturday:

Ewan Henderson’s Celtic career needed this run of games

Ewan appears to be going from strength to strength in the Championship these days. If anything is proof of what can happen when you give a player game-time, it’s Hendo’s run of form.

Last week, he managed to score his first ever senior goal in a 3-1 win against Queen of the South. The week beforehand? He ended his 23-month assist drought against Ayr United. All of a sudden, he’s producing regularly as Stevie Crawford continues to give him a run of games. Saturday’s win against Arbroath was Henderson’s seventh consecutive appearance and fourth consecutive start.

And he’s also being given something to fight for too, which is ideal. The prospect of being promoted with Dunfermline will surely have Henderson buzzing ahead of his return to Parkhead this summer.

This was a loan spell he desperately needed, albeit it’ll only be for a few months. Considering his disastrous spell with Ross County last season, it’s good he’s finally getting regular minutes at senior level. Being part of the Championship promotion-chasing pack is a bonus.

Now, Henderson and his Dunfermline side can look forward to seeing who they’ll face on May 5th. That’s when the Premiership playoff quarter-final begins [SPFL]. Dunfermline know they’ll be there, but it’s unclear as to whether they’ll face Raith Rovers or Dundee respectively. That will be determined after the final round of league matches this weekend.

Hopefully, Henderson can continue to make the headlines and show his creative spark ahead of a huge summer for him.
