Celtic fans are used to Kris Boyd going on a rant whenever Celtic beat Rangers in a big game.
Let’s face it, beating Rangers is getting all too easy for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers as the Hoops boss extends the Ibrox club’s winless run over the Bhoys to seven games.
Celtic fans need to go back to 2022 to find a time when Rangers last beat their team in a meaningful game after the Hoops lost in the Scottish Cup sem-final that year.
Since then, Celtic have been victorious in 11 out of the last 14 Glasgow Derby’s and it seems to have gotten all too much for former Rangers striker, Kris Boyd.
Kris Boyd ‘demanding’ SFA action after Celtic beat Rangers in League Cup final
Celtic’s League Cup win over Rangers had some controversy in it when Hoops defender Liam Scales’ foul on Vaclav Cerny sparked a penalty debate.
The Celtic defender says Rangers didn’t deserve a penalty but it seems that not only did the Ibrox club deserve a penalty, but they now also have a right to an inquiry after John Beaton and the VAR team awarded a free kick. That’s according to Boyd at least.
Boyd told Go Ballistic, “Patrick Stewart, Fraser Thornton who started at Rangers or started at Ibrox today, the first thing I’m doing is demanding a meeting, demanding a meeting with the SFA, with Willie Collum, because I think Willie has already been out there and he has been transparent.
“And I would want to get to the bottom of it and Ian Maxwell as well at the SFA. Listen, I know this is a League Cup, it’s a league competition, but it’s the SFA that provides the match officials.
“And I would want to get to the bottom of why the VAR didn’t intervene because it’s not good enough.”
Kris Boyd loses it with Celtic AGM, Michael Nicholson and Peter Lawwell rant
“You know, you go back a few months ago,” continued Boyd, “And it was a laugh and a joke, and everybody was going on about Rangers getting penalty kicks and Michael Nicholson, at the Celtic, by the way, at the Celtic AGM, stood up and was asked about missing key decisions, key VAR decisions. What would the club do going forward?
“Penalty to Rangers? Those days have kind of turned. Peter Lawwell, the last penalty kick that Rangers were given against them, with a handball was John Greg gave it away. They’ve put the pressure on Celtic.
“They’ve asked the questions. And it will be interesting to see if there’s anything said from that this morning if they got away with one there.

“Because if it is me, and I’m Rangers, Rangers fans will be sitting here this morning, Patrick Stewart, go and ask the question.
“Sit down, let’s find out what’s going on here because it’s happening too often now. It’s happening far too often. Get to the bottom of why that penalty kick wasn’t given.”
This was an incredible rant by Boyd who often made jokes himself at Celtic’s expense whenever refereeing decisions used to go Rangers’ way in these big games.
The cold hard facts are simple. Rangers were not good enough to beat Celtic at Hampden. Even though Brendan Rodgers’ side was at their poorest, Rangers gave it everything they had on Sunday but still couldn’t find a way to beat the Bhoys.
Boyd should be more worried about that because everything else is just a sideshow. A sideshow that, admittedly, Celtic fans are really enjoying right now.
