Former Celtic star Josip Juranovic was involved in a remarkable miss last night while playing for Union Berlin, although he wasn’t at fault.

The Croatian defender, who left Ange Postecoglou‘s side almost a fortnight ago, played the entirety of Union’s DFB-Pokal last 16 win over Wolfsburg.

Juranovic is settling well into life with the Bundesliga high-flyers and even assisted Robin Knoche’s equaliser.

The capital side won the game 2-1 but really should have wrapped up a more convincing victory late on in the game.

With Wolfsburg going all out for an equaliser and their keeper Pavao Pervan joining the attack from a corner, the ball breaks in the box.

The ex-Celt does brilliantly to get to it first, and drive away, skinning a defender neatly and then striking the ball towards goal from inside his own half.

The kick turns into an immaculate pass for substitute Jerome Roussillon who gathers the ball inside the box with the goal completely open.

He dithers and dithers, allowing the defender to get back and then block the ball.

But these words barely even do it justice. Just have a watch of the clip here on the DFB-Pokal’s official Twitter feed.

The miss has gone viral, just try searching ‘Roussillon’ on Twitter. The likes of Optus Sport and ESPN have tweeted it.

I came across the clip by chance while browsing TikTok earlier.

Thankfully for Roussillon, his miss is the last kick of the game and Union still advance to the quarter-finals.

The end of the video even shows the former Celtic ace replacing the ball for Roussillon to score this time, in a class post-match move.

All of that makes Juranovic come out of the whole thing really well, given his tenacious defensive work, pace, skill and personality.

If that’s a snapshot of what he’s been doing so far in Germany, he’s going to have a very good career there.

That reflects well on Celtic as a club too.
