Kyogo Furuhashi is on his way to Celtic Park after being videos at the airport preparing to leave for the UK.

Furuhashi signed for Celtic last week and took part in his final game for Vissel Kobe earlier this week. The clinical Japanese striker signs after bagging 16 goals in 22 games this season [Transfermarkt].

The player will need to quarantine upon arrival in the UK. However, it’s expected that he’ll serve his isolation period in London.

But the process to get him up to Lennoxtown and into the Celtic squad has finally begun after he started his journey in the early hours of this morning:

Kyogo Furuhashi should be able to make immediate impact at Celtic

With Furuhashi expected to quarantine in London, he’ll be following the same path as Ange Postecoglou did when he arrived. The new Celtic boss had to undergo a 10-day quarantine period when he arrived from Japan.

Furuhashi will, under the current guidelines, have to do the same. The player must wait 10 days before coming out of isolation and jetting up to Scotland.

This means that the player is unlikely to be ready to face Hearts on matchday one of the Premiership campaign.

Thankfully, however, the Japanese striker should be able to make an immediate impact when he joins up with the squad. The J-League has been up and running since February, so there should be no question marks about Furuhashi’s fitness levels.

He won’t need a pre-season or any other fitness-building exercises. Outside of potential time needed to adapt to Scotland and the different footballing environment and culture, the player should be good to go.

And it’s promising to see that he’s already started on his journey from Japan to Paradise. Hopefully everything goes smoothly.
