Former Celtic winger Mikey Johnston is hitting the headlines after his latest stunning goal for West Brom.
West Brom fans were used to seeing Johnston score goal after goal as he enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Baggies before he made his permanent move last summer.
The former Celtic winger was a mainstay in West Brom’s unsuccessful bid to reach the Premier League last season, but now, Johnston appears charged after his latest goal sent the Championship side to within five points of league leaders Leeds United.
And speaking about the ex-Celtic winger after his latest stunning goal, West Brom boss Ryan Mason hailed Johnston as ‘outstanding’.

Mikey Johnston’s ‘brilliance’ hailed as West Brom boss talks up ex-Celtic winger
Johnston was much-maligned at Celtic during his seven years as he flitted in and out the starting lineup and failed to make much of an impact at Paradise.
However, at West Brom, the Republic of Ireland international appears to have found his home as his latest goal shows as Mason talked up the former Celtic man.
Mason told West Brom’s official website, “It’s important to have players like Mikey Johnston and Isaac Price because in tight games sometimes you need a moment of brilliance. We had two of those moments today.
“Pricey’s finish is excellent and Mikey’s strike is outstanding. Before Mikey’s goal we had a few passages where you could feel momentum building because a lot of the ball was in the final third.
“We were trying to make that count, but it was a moment of brilliance and we’re happy for Mikey.
“We’d love him to score more tap-ins, and that’s certainly the challenge for Mikey, but if he can score a few more of them this season then we’ll all be really happy.”
