Watch: Supporters given fascinating insight into workings of Celtic backroom staff
Celtic supporters have been provided with a fantastic insight into the workings of backroom staff members Harry Kewell and Gavin Strachan.
When Ange Postecoglou arrived at Celtic, he made the decision to stick with the current team that remains in the Parkhead dugout to this day.
At first, that decision took a lot of stick after coming off the back of an extremely disappointing season in 2021/22.
However, the decision very much paid off for the Celtic boss, as he and his backroom staff led the Bhoys to Scottish Premiership and Premier Sports Cup success.
Despite the success of last campaign, the 57-year-old decided to keep his staff fresh by introducing a new name as Stephen McManus dropped down to join the academy coaching set-up.
Socceroos legend and former Champions League winner, Harry Kewell, stepped into to join Postecoglou, John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan.
All seems to be going very well for all four coaches, who have continued Celtic’s impressive form into the 2022/23 season.
This afternoon, supporters were given a class insight into the workings of both Kewell and Strachan as the Hoops prepare to return to Scottish Premiership action on Saturday.
In the Lennoxtown Unfiltered series, produced by the club’s media team, the two Celtic coaches can be seen and heard getting to work with the players as Postecoglou watches on.
Fascinating insight into the workings of Celtic coaches, and we would love to see more
The former Australian National team boss is someone who is known for not getting too close to his players. So, his coaches play an essential part on the training pitch.
Kewell and Strachan can be seen instructing, joking and motivating the players, with supporters being provided with a short look into behind-the-scenes workings at the Lennoxtown training complex.
To work at a side like Celtic, you have to be brilliant at what you do, with the standards being so high. And both men show why they are in the position they are.
The Celtic coaching duo demand that the players keep their work to that standard too, and it is clear why the Bhoys have been so strong this season and will want to continue that on, following a disappointing loss before the break.
At one stage in the almost four-minute clip, Kewell can be heard saying: “Again, boys, I’m not looking for the laidback (volley) one again. Concentration. You’re only working for 30 seconds, and then we’ll be changing it around – get the quality in!”
This sort of footage is always received brilliantly by the Celtic supporters. Famously, the club’s media team recorded Ange Postecoglou’s first training session as boss, and from that day, the mantra ‘We Don’t Stop’ was created.
As assistant coaches, we don’t really get to see the work that these guys do on a daily basis. So, it is great that every so often, we are provided with these clips.
Personally, it is something I would love to see more, but obviously, there are restrictions to what can be shown ahead of some crucial matches.
Hopefully, the club plan on releasing more of this content throughout the season, and were are able to see who the likes of Kennedy, Kewell and Strachan are praised so heavily by the manager and the players they work with.
