After Celtic overcame St Mirren thanks to a 2-0 success at Parkhead, there was a superb moment between Joe Hart and a young supporter that you may have missed.

Indeed, an overly-excited youngster made his way on to the pitch come full-time last night. And after running up to Hart, the Parkhead role-model was happy to give the youngster his jersey in a touching moment.

You can watch the video for yourself from YouTube below, with several supporters appearing to capture the moment on camera post-match:

It’s yet another classy moment from the Celtic number 1 as he continues to bolster his relationship and reputation amongst the Hoops support. It’s gestures like these that have helped make him such a popular figure amongst the Hoops fanbase too.

Hart has shown a real affection for the Celtic support since he joined, regularly giving his jersey away to young fans and always taking time to applaud those in attendance regardless of the result.

Last night also saw him rack up his 21st clean sheet of the season in his 40th appearance [Transfermarkt].

Joe Hart in yet another classy moment with Celtic fan

You see it all the time. Footballers snubbing supporters who want an autograph or a photo. In this instance, it would’ve been easy for Hart to simply let the stewards deal with the youngster or simply direct him back to his seat.

But all of his experience and class comes out here. He knows it’s just an over-excited youngster who’s itching to meet his idol. There’s no need to blow anything out of proportion or leave him upset. By giving the young supporter his jersey, Hart again showed the kind of traits we like to see in Celtic players.

As for his form of late, it’s safe to say he’s been kept quiet thanks to his backline. A lack of genuine goalscoring opportunities have come for opposition teams against Celtic in recent domestic matches against Hibs and St Mirren respectively.

The truth is, as Celtic supporters we would be happy not to see Hart make another save this season. So long as it means the defence are doing their bit and offering him protection.

There have been plenty of occasions this term when the former England number 1 has bailed out the backline and the team in general. So it’s good to see him able to go periods of the campaign without having to spring into action.

Here’s hoping that come Sunday at Livingston it’s the same story.
