Many Celtic fans would not have expected a performance like the one they watched against Ross County in the Scottish Premiership yesterday afternoon.

Usually, immediately after a Champions League fixture, Celtic can appear leggy and tired but do still manage to get the job done domestically.

Celtic looked anything but that as the Bhoys destroyed Ross County in 45 devastating first-half minutes at Parkhead yesterday afternoon.

Brendan Rodgers used his squad depth after making six changes to his Celtic side to face Ross County who had lost just one in their last five Scottish Premiership fixtures.

And as Celtic fans were blown away by their team’s performance, it was what the club’s Unique Angle caught Callum McGregor doing at the first and last of the Hoops’ goals that explains why the team were so relentless at Parkhead.

Callum McGregor’s demands from his Celtic teammates vs Ross County

Liam Scales opened the scoring in the tenth minute and Adam Idah finished off Celtic’s first-half rout over Ross County with the fifth and last goal against a shellshocked Don Cowie side.

But watch what McGregor does as the team celebrates both strikes and it will explain why Celtic were unrelenting against The Staggies in the 5-0 win.

The Celtic captain is the one who drives the standards in the Parkhead dressing room. McGregor is the one the players look up to as their inspiration on the pitch.

Even at 5-0 up when the game was over, McGregor was still demanding the same standards from his Celtic teammates from when Liam Scales’ headed goal was converted.

If Celtic fans are worried that the team’s performances might take a dip at any point of the season, they needn’t have to now.

The one incredible stat from Callum McGregor’s Celtic performance vs Ross County

There were a number of players who stood out for Celtic in the win over Ross County. Luke McCowan was the man of the match with a goal and three assists.

Liam Scales did great getting on the scoresheet as he stood in for Auston Trusty and Alex Valle was superb as he deputised for Greg Taylor.

But there was one standout stat from Callum McGregor that epitomised that Celtic performance yesterday afternoon.

As a team, Celtic made over 750 passes with an accuracy of 89.6% against a Ross County team who were chasing shadows for 90 minutes at Parkhead. [Sky Sports]

McGregor made just 39 of those passes but, incredibly, 38 of them (97.43%) found a Celtic teammate. One misplaced pass in the full 90 minutes is a remarkable record against any opposition at any level.

The Celtic captain, again, leading by example which is another mark of the high standards McGregor sets himself and his teammates which will drive huge success at Parkhead this season.
