Celtic’s draw for the Europa League group stage sees the Hoops reunited with an old foe. As well as playing Sparta Prague and Lille, Neil Lennon’s side will face Milan. A team that the Hoops have played on many memorable occasions.

Who can forger Scott MacDonald’s winning goal in 2007 for example? Or Celtic pushing Milan all the way in the last 16 earlier that year before a Kaka goal gave Milan the victory on the way to winning the Champions League.

On this occasion, all eyes will be on a football great as he possibly makes his return to Celtic Park after 19 years – Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Milan star has to be doubtful for game

The word ‘possibly’ is used as there has to be a doubt surrounding his participation in the game. Celtic vs Milan is the first game in the group stage, on the 22nd of October – just under three weeks away.

Ibrahimovic is currently fighting a battle with the virus that is gripping the globe, after he tested positive and is currently self-isolating.

However, he seems to be working hard to be fit for the game.

Working extremely hard to regain fitness

He uploaded a video to Twitter on Friday with the caption ‘this animal can’t be tamed’ which featured him running hard on a treadmill, which you can watch below:

Only time will tell if Ibrahimovic will feature for Milan at Celtic Park. It would be a disappointment if he missed out in all honesty. He is one of the game’s great characters, and the occasion will be dampened enough by the empty stadium.

We don’t want Ibrahimovic to miss the game also. It would be good to get one over on him. He would no doubt have plenty to say after the game if Celtic did manage to defeat Milan.

Maybe the best that the player can hope for is a place on the bench. Milan will want to be careful with the player’s recovery. Still, at least we can see that Ibrahimovic is giving it his all to be fit for Celtic Park.
