Celtic talent Moi Elyounoussi has the admiration of everyone in the dressing room as he continues to shine at Parkhead, according to Greg Taylor.
Elyounoussi has bagged 17 goals and seven assists this season, featuring over 40 times for the club this term alone [Transfemarkt]. His latest performance against Livingston seen him bag an impressive brace. That followed on from goals against Rangers and Falkirk in recent matches.
Moi’s form now sees him with four goals in three games ahead of a mouth-watering Glasgow Derby at Ibrox this weekend. With Celtic fans itching to sign him and Southampton supporters happy to see him go, big question marks remain over his long-term future.
However, Taylor believes the entire Celtic dressing room would be happy to see him stay as he bigged up how highly-rated he is amongst his team-mates.
As quoted by the Scottish Sun, Taylor said: “You saw his quality in front of goal on Saturday. We all rate him inside the dressing room. We have seen the levels of performances he delivers in training every day and also in matches.
“You’d need to ask Moi and the board what’s going to happen in the future, but we always want to keep our players. If there’s an opportunity down the line for him to stay, I’m sure the boys would be happy with that.
“I think he enjoys it here. Everyone enjoys winning games and scoring. He’s very versatile and I think that’s important, both within games and also for different systems the manager goes with.”
Celtic fans can’t get enough of Moi Elyounoussi; still time for him to be idolised
A few weeks ago there appeared to be nothing to play for this season. The Scottish Cup wasn’t getting supporters going and there was a massive shrug of the shoulders when it came to the remaining derby games.
However, all of a sudden, a Scottish Cup trip to Ibrox has changed all of that. Elyounoussi will go into it in perhaps as good a level of form as he’s had since joining Celtic initially back in 2019.
Whether he stays or not remains to be seen. It’s likely the Hoops would need to part with a sizable amount of cash to bring him here. Considering the size of the rebuild required at Parkhead, Celtic need to manage their money carefully.
If Moi was to leave tomorrow, he would leave well-liked. However, there’s still time for him to be idolised. Celtic’s trip to Ibrox this weekend (whenever it gets played), represents a chance for him to give Celtic supporters some bragging rights. Odsonne Edouard often goes into these games as Celtic’s biggest threat. It feels as though there’s been a change in that regard given Moi’s form.
Should he play a key role in the Scottish Cup clash vs Rangers and then manage to help end their unbeaten league campaign next month, Moi would be leaving the club with an all-out demand from fans to sign him.
Before that, however, let’s hope he can put a big smile on our face this weekend first and foremost.
