We’re beginning to get a sense of what Celtic season ticket renewals look like this year

Celtic are planning to launch their season ticket renewal campaign far earlier this year with the club in a far more stable position than 12 months ago.

Last year, with a manager and CEO leaving, great uncertainty regarding the return of crowds and discontent rife throughout the support, Celtic didn’t manage to get their renewal campaign out until late May.

Ultimately supporters answered the call and got behind Ange Postecoglou but there was certainly a feeling for some that the club took this fandom for granted.

This year, communication should at least come a lot earlier.

The most recent Fan Forum event earlier this week has thrown up a few interesting season ticket details that help us get a sense of what the support can expect from the club.

The Cynic member @Ginty1888 always provides a summary for the online support after these events and his latest Twitter thread is full of information on a variety of topics.

In terms of season tickets though, he reports that:

– They will be launched at the end of March or the beginning of April, giving fans 2 wage cycles to pay
– Concession prices will be frozen, with kids tickets also available for £50 as usual
– No guarantees of a price freeze for general admission seats, in fact, it looks like a price increase
– The waiting list remains ‘substantial’ and in the thousands
– Added benefits are being reviewed including the Pass To Paradise and broadcast of other club fixtures

In addition to that, there are no plans to be able to relocate your seat online.

My brother and I have been looking to relocate for next year and that’s been a process with the ticket office – it would be far more convenient if it was able to be done through the ticketing website. However, Ticketmaster have told the club their system isn’t ‘sophisticated’ enough to handle this – @Ginty1888 reports.

All in all, there’s not too much unexpected.

The club’s reasoning for a general admission price increase is that they have to ‘find the balance between inflation and supporting the teams’, but undoubtedly it will be a controversial step for some.

It shouldn’t be too long before we get the big sell from the club away from these meetings. No doubt supporters will respond in numbers as usual.

In other news, Celtic find themselves in a critical moment.
