Defender Christopher Jullien has sent a lengthy farewell message to Celtic and supporters this evening after his move to Montpellier was confirmed.

The 29-year-old has joined the Ligue 1 outfit on a permanent basis after a three year spell at the Bhoys full of ups and downs.

Acknowledging both the good times and bad times, Jullien was quick to thank fans in his goodbye Instagram post, also sending thank yous to Neil Lennon and John Kennedy.

He said: “Now is the time for goodbye. First of all I would like to thank the fans for the warm welcome 3 years ago in Glasgow and being so honest with me through the up and downs. I liked your mentality and as you saw I gave everything on the pitch and Paradise always responded. What a crowd.

“Some might think that I’m satisfied finishing this way, my time in the club that gave me the first championship of my career… I let them think again.

Then I would like to thank the club for bringing me here, I came here to learn what winning mentality was, and I’ve learned so much during so many great games, so thank you to the Celtic organisation.

“Last but not least, I would like to thank my teammates, so many great players, my former coaches Neil Lennon, John Kennedy and all the staff that was beside me during these 3 years.”

Jullien has moved to Montpellier intending to play more regularly, having been given limited opportunities under Ange Postecoglou.

Returning from injury in January of this year, the Bhoys boss persisted with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt, with Stephen Welsh and new arrival Moritz Jenz also ahead of Jullien in the pecking order.

Celtic will move on positively, having shed Jullien from the wage bill. Jullien meanwhile will be relishing the opportunity to make another impact on the French top-flight.
